Christopher Pucinischi

PSYCHOLOGIST

Chris is a general psychologist who has a warm and flexible approach, understanding that treatment needs to be personalised in order to meet the individual needs of clients. He also prioritises cultivating a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship with the people he engages in therapy.

Chris works with individuals over the age of 18 and has experience treating a range of issues or conditions such as anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and stress-related disorders, adjustment difficulties, grief, relationship issues, anger issues and difficulties living with chronic pain. He is particularly passionate about working with people to overcome anxiety and trauma.

In his therapy, Chris utilises evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Schema Therapy. These therapies may also be supplemented by mindfulness and relaxation techniques, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills and other strategies that might be relevant to the person’s presenting issues (assertive communication skills, anger management, etc).

In addition to being a psychologist, Chris is also currently completing his PhD at Victoria University which is exploring how screen writers can be better supported in creating health-based storylines on television or film in a manner that is accurate and authentic.
